Attorney heads CCARC Golf Tournament

Almost 30 years ago, New Britain attorney John Barbieri was asked to join the committee of a golf tournament for the Central Connecticut Association for Retarded Citizens. He decided to join and has been on the committee ever since.

In the beginning, the tournament was run by the United Way. Now the CCARC runs the tournament itself, with Barbieri acting as chair for over 25 years. “It’s mostly a coordination job,”said Barbieri. “Everybody seems to know what they need to do.”

“We’re very proud of that,” said Barbieri. “We’re trying to make money for the organization.” Barbieri has been practicing law since 1966. After nine years he started his own practice in New Britain. He enjoys antique cars. Barbieri said he enjoys working for the CCARC and plans to continue his position as chairman of the committee.

“It’s a good organization to work for,” he said.
